—  OUR STORY  —

WE HAVE BEEN POURING BEERS SINCE 1864, MAKING US ONE OF QUEENSLAND’S OLDEST LICENSED HOTELS.

Nindigully Pub "the Gully" is one of Queensland's oldest continually licensed hotels, located on the banks of the beautiful Moonie River. In 1864 Nindigully was issued its liquor license. The pub held various names since its licensing like Sternes, Tattersalls, Sportsman's, the Grand and even temporarily renamed the Lucktown Pub in the movie Paperback Hero starring Hugh Jackman & Claudia Carvan, filmed in and around the pub in 1999. The key to the pub's survival all these years is until 1999, the whole town of Nindigully including the pub, general store, homes, school, post office, town hall, rodeo grounds and 1,000's of acres surrounding it were a small part of a large farming property. Thanks to all our local farmers out here the pub survives today.

Thru the years the pub has retained it's heritage and character. In August 2002 the current family owners purchased a pub without the farm. Our farmers support never wavered. But with no farm to fall back on, and bills to pay, the gully needed a new direction. With the help of our dedicated staff and family, our local Tourism associations and media we moved forward. Today we are overwhelmed emotionally by the love people have shown our little pub on the edge of the Australian Outback. Every dollar we earn we reinvest in the Gully to ensure its future.

We do have limited accommodation in house. Currently 5 air conditioned rooms in the original end of the pub, decorated with appropriate furnishings, but sorry no ensuites as it would destroy the ambience and heritage. We hope in 2023 to start building new architect designed cabins with ensuites of course.

Camping is ample between the pub and the Moonie River and as always is free because it is yours. Please look after it. Our local council maintains a set of free toilets and dump point in the riverside campgrounds.

We like to think aside from our beautiful pub that people visit for our chef cooked meals and a cold relaxing beverage. All of our food in our kitchen is sourced as local as possible and then as close as we can. We are passionate about Australian made. Our barramundi is sourced direct from the Northern Territory not farmed but wild caught (NT Wild caught Barra). Most of our other seafood is sourced thru Eastern seaboard wharves by Kabi brothers (the oldest seafood wholesalers in Australia). We have our own brand of Aussie beers on tap, Gully Gold and Moonie Mud , plus national favorites. As well as our fine local Riversands Wines, grapes grown in St George, in stock all year we have our own brand of red and white wines labelled 'Rough as Guts'.

We are well known for building Australia's biggest (& tasty) Burgers. Even our standard one serve steak sandwiches and burgers are oversized. Take the plunge into our MEGA burgers that we build from 5 kilos to 25 kilos.

We provide live entertainment by country artists every weekend between Easter and November free of charge.

Since 2004 the last Saturday in November has been reserved for the annual Nindigully Pig Races always raising money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. With the help of our extended family of supporters the gully has successfully increased the annual funds raised to over $60,000 in one day in 2022. Our previous pre covid one day record was over $42,000 for the RFDS. In 2004 $6,500 was raised. Over the years thanks to our supporters Nindigully Pub has tipped in over $300,000 to the Doctors and thank them for the great work they do. Hopefully we will continue to improve our fund-raising with public support.
